McDoMenuUSA.com is an independent consumer reference guide created and maintained by David Livingstone, a US-based food vlogger and menu researcher. This page explains how we collect, verify, and present McDonald’s menu pricing data across the United States. Our goal is to give American consumers a single, reliable place to compare McDonald’s prices, calories, and deals before they order.
Who we are
David Livingstone started tracking fast food prices in 2020 after noticing how difficult it was to find accurate, up-to-date menu pricing online. Most price information was either outdated, hidden behind app logins, or scattered across social media posts with no verification. McDoMenuUSA.com was built to solve that problem.
Today, our small editorial team covers over 225 menu items across 15 McDonald’s categories. We focus exclusively on USA pricing because McDonald’s prices vary significantly by country, and mixing international data creates confusion for American readers who just want to know what their local order will cost.
How we collect price data
We use three primary sources to build and maintain our price database:
1. The official McDonald’s app. The McDonald’s mobile app displays current menu prices for specific locations across the United States. We check prices from multiple zip codes in different states to capture regional variation. This is our most reliable source because it reflects what customers actually see when they open the app to order.
2. Restaurant menu boards. David and contributors visit McDonald’s locations in person and photograph menu boards. In-store prices sometimes differ from app prices, especially for combo meals and limited-time items. We note these differences when they appear.
3. Delivery platform listings. We cross-reference prices on Uber Eats, DoorDash, and the McDonald’s McDelivery service. Delivery prices are typically higher than in-store prices, and we clearly label any delivery-specific pricing on our pages.
How we verify accuracy
Every pricing page on this site carries a visible “Prices last verified” date near the top. This date tells you exactly when our team last checked that page’s data against current sources. We follow a regular verification cycle:
Weekly checks: Our top 15 highest-traffic pages, including the homepage, Happy Meal prices, breakfast menu, burgers menu, and beverages menu, are reviewed every week. These pages account for the majority of reader visits, so keeping them current is our top priority.
Monthly checks: All remaining menu item pages are reviewed at least once per month. If McDonald’s announces a nationwide price change or new menu item, we update affected pages within 48 hours regardless of the regular schedule.
Reader reports: We encourage readers to contact us through our Contact page if they notice a price that looks wrong for their area. We investigate every report and update the page if the data has changed.
Why we show price ranges instead of single numbers
McDonald’s prices are not the same everywhere. Approximately 95 percent of McDonald’s roughly 13,500 US restaurants are franchise-owned, which means individual owners set their own prices within guidelines from McDonald’s corporate. A Big Mac might cost $5.29 in a small town in Texas and $6.49 at an airport location in New York City.
Rather than picking one number and calling it the national price, we show price ranges that reflect what most American customers will actually see. When a range is wide, we explain why in the page content so readers understand the factors driving the difference.
Our independence
McDoMenuUSA.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by McDonald’s Corporation. We do not receive payments, free products, or other benefits from McDonald’s or any of its franchisees. All trademarks, logos, and brand names referenced on this site belong to their respective owners.
We may earn revenue through advertising displayed on our pages. Advertising does not influence our editorial content, price data, or recommendations. Our editorial decisions are made independently by David Livingstone and the editorial team.
Content standards
Every page on this site follows these editorial standards:
Accuracy first. If we cannot verify a price from at least two independent sources, we label it as approximate and explain the limitation. We never fabricate pricing data.
Plain language. We write for everyday consumers, not industry insiders. Our content avoids jargon and explains terms like “franchise pricing” or “limited-time offer” in plain English so any reader can understand what they are looking at.
Practical focus. Every page answers a specific question a real consumer would ask: How much does this item cost? What comes with it? Is the meal deal better value than ordering separately? We do not publish content for the sake of filling pages.
Transparency. We clearly state our data sources, update dates, and the limitations of our pricing data. We always recommend that readers confirm final prices through the official McDonald’s app or in-store menu board before placing an order.
