Use the McDonald’s app instead of third-party apps. The McDonald’s app sometimes offers free delivery promotions and the menu prices tend to be slightly lower than on DoorDash or Grubhub. Plus, you earn rewards points on every order.

Order during off-peak hours. Delivery fees are lowest during mid-afternoon (2 PM to 4 PM) when demand is low. Avoid ordering during the lunch rush (11:30 AM to 1 PM) or dinner rush (5:30 PM to 7:30 PM) when fees spike.
Meet the minimum to avoid the small order fee. If you are close to the $10 or $12 threshold, adding a small item like an apple pie or 4-piece McNuggets can save you $2 to $3 by eliminating the small order fee.
Consider pickup instead. If the McDonald’s is within a 5-minute drive, mobile ordering through the app with curbside pickup gives you the same convenience without any delivery markup. You order from your phone, drive over, and the food is brought to your car.
What you can and cannot order for delivery
Most of the standard McDonald’s menu is available for delivery, including items from the burger menu, breakfast menu (during breakfast hours), McNuggets, fries and sides, and McCafe drinks. Some items may not be available for delivery depending on the location. Ice cream items like the Vanilla Cone and McFlurries are sometimes excluded because they do not travel well.
